Amazon’s new data center could become the largest source of pollution in the US.

We are the group of current and former Amazon employees that originally pushed Amazon to commit to a Climate Pledge back in 2019. Now, we’ve been raising the alarm about how our leadership has been casting aside those goals to build out AI.
There’s no clearer example of this than the recent reports of our company’s new investments in a large-scale natural-gas-burning power plant to support a massive data center in Texas.
We’re glad this is getting attention, because it gives an opportunity for those of us who are concerned to get connected and plan for how to push our company to do better. This survey isn’t just about screaming into the void, it’s about sharing our ideas and getting connected outside of Amazon’s internal systems to build towards something better.
